Ragu Traditional and Mushroom Pasta Sauce Review

With the end of the holiday season and the kids back to school. How are you all doing? Personally I love this time of year because all the stress of the holidays is over the kids are getting back into the routine of school and I finally have time for myself again. The biggest challenge I have is finding new and exciting things for dinner. Today I will be reviewing a few Ragu pasta sauces that my family has just tried this week.

We tried two new Ragu pasta sauces this week, these included old world style Ragu traditional and Ragu mushroom pasta sauce. With the Ragu traditional pasta sauce I made a classic dish that I’ve made before for my kids however this time instead of making the sauce from scratch I used Ragu traditional sauce as a substitute. This cut the time needed for preparation by 30min. My kids loved the change and managed to polish off their entire plates which is rare lol. On Friday I made chili because I had some extra time in the morning to get everything ready. I used two jars of Ragu mushroom pasta sauce for this one. Tossed all the ingredients in the crock pot and let it simmer. It turned out good my kids were satisfied however I have liked to see and taste more of a mushroom flavor. I think it would be wise when using Ragu Mushroom sauce to add more mushrooms to it as I wasn’t satisfied with what cam in the jar. Ragu Sweet Tomato Basil and Margherita Review – Whats in that sauce anyway


 

I don’t know about you guys but in our house pasta is a staple on our table. We consume pasta at least twice a week. This is because it’s an easy meal, cheap to buy and if prepared right can be delicious and nutritious at the same time. There are many ways to prepare pasta using it in lasangas, spegetti dishes and in salads are just a few to name and because both me and my husband work full time we often don’t have time to prepare the sauce from scratch.

Ragu sweet tomato basil pasta sauceLast week we used Ragu sweet tomato basil and Margherita pasta sauce for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. It has an amazing blend of herbs and spices that don’t over power the sauce and is now one of my husbands favourites. But before it makes it onto our shelves I wanted to look into the nutritional value of Ragu pasta sauces. As it’s important to us to be healthy while still enjoying what we eat.

What I found out is that Ragu old world pasta sauce only contains 1.5 grams of fat, no saturated fats and 60 calories per 1/2 cup serving. It also contains 2 grams of protien and contains a full cup of of fresh vegtables per jar.
